Magpie Choir was set up to focus on contemporary music, unique arrangements especially written for the choir and most importantly, entirely live performances.

2013 posterWe try to avoid the traditional or “easy listening” styles favoured by a lot of choirs by creating distinctive arrangements and performances, working on every detail from vocal harmonies to decorating the venue.

We have open membership so singers of any style, age, range and experience can join us. For those feeling confident there’s also the chance to take on solo parts in various numbers.

Our latest performance at the All Hallows Gig included an acapella arrangement of Muse‘s Muscle Museum, a beautifully dischordant version of Radiohead‘s Fade Out with piano accompaniment and Florence & The Machine‘s powerful Drumming Song with live drumming on stage.

We also performed with singer/songwriter Clara Barker on her song Love You and with local band Only Just on their song Unbreakable and on Foo Fighter‘s The Pretender.

Anyone interested in joining the choir should get in touch with any questions or come along to a rehearsal at St Matthew’s hall (North Quay, Douglas) from 5.45 to 7pm.
